Healthy Living

You Are What You Eat

Do you struggle with losing weight? Or, have you been one that never was the ideal weight for your size? Welcome to my  world. I’ve heard this statement all of my life “You Are What You Eat”. This statement is true because physical and mental health are closely linked together and when one is eating healthy, you will ultimately look healthy and feel healthy. There are many factors that contribute to weight gain and one’s overall health and some of these factors largely depend on one’s genetic makeup. However, there are ways we can be proactive and change the way we live by working toward a healthy lifestyle, which will help prevent heart disease and other major diseases that are predisposed in our families. Many of us are proactive in getting an annual inspection for our vehicles and renewing our auto insurance policies, annually we must be serious minded when it comes to preventative care. For example:

  • Getting screening tests to check your blood.
  • Eat a balanced diet, which consists of fruits and vegetables
  • Be physically active
  • Control your blood pressure by minimizing stress in your life
  • Have healthy relationships
  • Meditation, prayer, and living a life of gratitude
  • Control cholesterol by eating less fried and processed food

Some of you are probably thinking how do I begin to live a healthy lifestyle when there is such a vast variety of foods I enjoy. Well, allow me to encourage you when you decide to live a healthy lifestyle, it is simply making a choice to live better and make choices in your life that will ultimately promote the best YOU!.
